Well, there's nothing to make one feel better about life than doing a show you really love to an appreciative house. I opened last night in Vancouver, to a lovely house, and a lovely response.
Honestly, I have learned so much about myself on this tour; not the least is the fact that I really really love performing. And more than that, I really really love performing my own work. I think this is what I was made for, I've just been putting it off for so long because it's scary stuff, being up there on your own. It's scary stuff, having to flog your show and flyer lineups for other shows that go around the block and hoping that you get at least 10 people in to see your show so you can break even. It's scary knowing that if someone reviews your show they are reviewing YOU, in a sense. But it feels so, so, good in the end. And I sleep so, so soundly.
I ran into an old friend from McGill - a very very talented man that I respect so much. And it was so heartwarming to hear him go on about me to all his friends, about how much he respects me, and how talented I am blah blah blah...
You know you're on the right path when the people you look up to are looking right back. And smiling.
Another day, another poster, another flyer, another chance to connect.
Love to all - and namaste.
